Carnatic music is a system of music commonly related with the southern part of the Indian subcontinent. India has a classical music tradition that is around five thousand years old. Indian classical music is of two kinds, Hindusthani music and carnatic music. Carnatic music developed in the south indian states of Tamil nadu,Kerala,Andrapradesh,Karnataka.

purandara Dasa(1480-1564) is referred to as the pitamaha of carnatic music formulated the system that is commonly used for the teaching of carnatic music.
